Tess Madgen is a highly respected Australian basketball figure, known for her elite playing career and growing influence as a coach and mentor. A long-time member of the Australian Opals, Tess has proudly represented her country at the Olympic Games and FIBA World Cups, while also making a significant impact in the WNBL with clubs including the Melbourne Boomers and Townsville Fire.
Beyond the court, Tess is now making an invaluable contribution to the growth of the game through her leadership of the She Hoops program — a national initiative aimed at developing and empowering the next generation of female basketballers across Australia. Her passion for nurturing talent and creating inclusive pathways for young women in sport has seen her become a highly regarded coach and role model.
In 2025, Tess was appointed to the NBL1 coaching staff with the Bendigo Spirit, marking another step in her transition from elite player to influential coach. With her deep basketball knowledge, strong leadership, and unwavering commitment to the game, Tess continues to inspire and shape the future of Australian basketball at all levels.
